GEAR REDUCTION SHIM // ARCTIC CAT WET CLUTCH MODELS
This is a cheap and effective way to gear your machine down.
Why pay $1000.00 dollars or more to change the gear ratio on your machine when you could spend $5.95 on a shim for your primary clutch that will pretty much do the same thing. The more shims you run -- the lower your gear ratio is. This is a must for pit racers or riders running 28” and larger tires.
These shims are designed to space out the primary clutch, allowing the belt to ride up higher in the secondary clutch, which has the effect of starting off in a lower gear and gives you a torquier feel. Depending on your model and belt wear, you can run up to two shims- in some cases, you may not be able to run any shims due to lack of clutch cover to belt clearance. You can also grind or sand down the aluminum clutch housing for additional belt clearance if needed- the belt only needs space so it does not rub at idle speeds as it will drop down into the secondary as speeds increase and the sheaves open up.
Shims are approx. .070" (1.8mm) thick and fit Arctic Cat 550/650/700 H1 and 1000 H2 Models with Inner Wet Clutch
